On November 3, 2024, GHCH hosted its second annual year end breakfast at the Millgrove Community Centre. The event capped off a amazing 2024 for GHCH. Attendees were treated to a pancake breakfast with all the fixings prepared by our amazing GHCH volunteers. In addition to showing appreciation to our riders and coaches, GHCH gave a huge thank you to Simon Carroll, our first President, who although stepped down from his position will always be a part of the GHCH family. Also recognized at the event were our riders of the year, Terran (HopOn), Jake (Rally Riders) and Rhys (Competition FUNdamentals and the recipient of the GHCH Presidents Award, Leighton. Thanks to all our coaches, riders, friends and families that helped make year two a success.

The Golden Horseshoe Cycling Hub primarily operates on the traditional territories of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Huadenosaunee and Mississaugas. This land is covered by the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, which was an agreement between the Haudenosaunee and Anishninaabek to share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes. The GHCH also acknowledges that this land is covered by the Between the Lakes Purchase, 1792, between the Crown and the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
Our activities throughout the year may take us to other ceded lands on Turtle Island. We encourage our members to reflect on this and how we can learn about the history of these lands in order that we can better understand our roles as partners and caretakers. As colonizers it is our responsibility to ensure that we face this history head-on and accept our role in working toward reconciliation.
